Letting go of the "P"

Faith loves her "P". I am sure you are thinking " What the heck is a P? "
It is her Paci P. She chose the name for it long ago when she started talking and it has just stuck. We even call Noah's paci a "P".
We are approaching Faith's 3rd birthday and I really wanted her to be done with the "P".
Her " P" stays in her bed, and she only gets it at nap time and bedtime. We have been talking with her for several months about giving all her "P's" to Noah. We talked about how babies have "P's" and how she was a big girl now and didn't need them. She is really excited about giving her P away and talks about it everyday. Everyday she gets up and says" Today I am gonna give all my P's away to Noah". I tell her that is a great idea and she talks about it all morning. Around lunch time comes around and she starts saying " I don't want to give my "P" away. " I don't force the issue with her.
Today I decided that she was done having a "P" at nap time. I put her to bed and she has been in her bed for two and a half hours. She has cried, been angry with me, and recently started screaming "HEEEEEELLLLPPPP". I am pretty sure she isn't ready to give it up. I don't like the thought of forcing her to do something she isn't ready to do. I still need to talk to Damian and see what he thinks about it, but for now I think we shouldn't press the issue with her.

  1. I posted on Facebook about this but I am just hoping that Caroline one day decides that she's over it..just like she decided she was over diapers. Haha. I doubt it will happen like that though.

I think I'm going to wait to push the issue until after her birthday. I'd like to be finished with the paci by 3.5 for sure! Keep me updated and let me know what works for y'all.

  2. We aren't taking it away from her. We are going to just let her decide when she is ready. I am weak, I just can't do it. We have never had to battle her on anything, so I don't want to have to start.
